George's Hospital Center is a 290-bed acute care teaching facility located in Cheverly, Maryland. With an annual volume of 45,000, the emergency department provides acute care to the underserved communities of suburban Maryland and the District of Columbia. As a level 2-trauma center, Prince George's Hospital Center is the regional referral center serving the counties of southern Maryland. Subspecialty services provided by the hospital include: Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, a 24-hour/day cardiac catheterization lab, Prince Georges countys only SAFE program, and in-patient Psychiatric services. There is an established internal medicine residency, as well as rotating residents from Howard University (Obstetrics & Gynecology) and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellows from Childrens Hospital. The emergency department is divided into the main side and a fast-track that operates between 11:30 am-12 midnight. The department is staffed with physician faculty from the George Washington University Department of Emergency Medicine, physician assistants, GWU emergency medicine residents, GWU medical students and internal medicine residents.
