Maritime Medical Access Services

Medical Advice - MMA provides consultation via phone, fax or telex from Board Certified Emergency Physicians twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Case Management - MMA offers case management for injured or ill employees anywhere in the world. Once MMA receives a request for case management services, a MMA physician will establish and maintain contact with the treating physician in ports of call around the world. MMA physicians monitor the appropriateness of the care provided and relay to the Captain any recommendations.

Repatriation - if a patient needs to go home, or be evacuated to a higher level of medical care, MMA can provide coordination of this process. For patients suitable for travel by commercial air, MMA can provide physician, nurse or paramedic escorts if needed.

Gateway - MMA offers an integration of case management and repatriation services with our network of physician specialists. MMA will arrange for the patient to be brought into The George Washington University Medical Center and evaluated by the Emergency Medicine Physician.

Referrals - MMA provides referrals for physicians/hospitals in the United States and overseas.

Education and Training - MMA provides on site educational programs for your medical officers and/or crew ranging from a 3-day basic first aid and CPR course to a 5-day EMT and paramedic training.

Advisory Support - MMA physicians can provide medical and occupational health advisory support utilizing the extensive resources of the George Washington University Medical Center. Disaster planning support, quality assurance visits, litigation support, and development of company medical policies are examples of the types of support MMA provides.

Medicine Chest - MMA physicians and staff can recommend and arrange for medications and equipment to be carried onboard according to the needs of the client.

MMA's experience in the Maritime environment along with our extensive clinical and occupational health background enable us to offer these comprehensive and high quality services to any client operating in remote areas.
